Amanda Bossard graduated from high school in 1992. She then began studying marine sciences at Alaska Pacific University, Anchorage. Bossard started her journey in the commercial seafood industry in 1999. At the time she was employed as a fisherman on Murat Aritan's 65 foot halibut boat. It was transformed into a fish tender. Bossard is married to Aritan. They've come together and have claimed the respective businesses. Both are advocates conservation of sustainable, renewable seafood resources. Otolith was founded in Philadelphia through Bella Bossard, now the mother of two children with ages of 3 and 1 Bossard. The husband of the business has a lengthy career in the fishing industry, which often keeps them apart for five months or more. It is during this time that they're focusing on their environmental and financial objectives. Bossard, her son Andre and Isabella, her daughter Isabella are scheduled to return back to Southeast Alaska every summer as deckhands during the salmon season. Hooks and lines are employed to capture their salmon before joining Aritan for local processors for 2 months. After that, they expand their direct seafood product sales via Otolith Sustainable Seafood.
